Embracing the Present and Future: A Journey from Fear to Belonging
In the rearview mirror of my life, I see a tapestry woven with moments of joy and pain, successes and failures. Having lived in Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida, and now Mexico, each move brought a mix of excitement and fear, a dance between the known and the unknown.
Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Florida each had their unique culture, their distinct personality traits that left an imprint on my journey. Despite the challenges, these places held me in a comfortable embrace, a familiarity that tethered me to the memories, both good and bad.
The decision to move to Mexico was no exception, tinged with both excitement and a hint of fear. The prospect of navigating life in a new country, learning a new language, brought basic fears to the surface. Yet, there was something enticing about the future, especially in the romantic zone of Mexico.
Here, the sense of community reigns supreme, reminiscent of a bygone era. The butcher, the bakery, the corner store—all just steps away, neighbors who wave, and friendly faces that greet you. It's a stark contrast to the sometimes detached sense of community I felt in the States, especially evident in online interactions fraught with arguments and political tribalism. Don't misunderstand – I hold a deep affection for the USA, where beauty abounds. However, the prevailing mood among many is fraught with frustration and tension, creating a challenging environment to navigate.
In Mexico, I find solace in the present and optimism for the future. The community is vibrant, people on vacation are open to connections, and the relaxed atmosphere allows me to escape the daily political hostilities. Different restaurants and the beach becomes my haven, a place to meet new people and foster connections without the weight of divisiveness.
As I navigate my new role at Coldwell Banker, the stress of the past seems to dissipate. The feeling of belonging grows, and in this moment, I find myself looking more to the present and the promising future that Mexico holds for me. Excitement pulses through my veins, and the stressors of the past are replaced with the joy of newfound friendships and opportunities.
In this journey, I've learned that sometimes, looking forward and embracing the present opens doors to a world filled with possibilities, community, and a sense of belonging that transcends borders.
