Romantic Zone

The Romantic Zone is where Puerto Vallarta feels most alive.

This is the part of town where you can walk out your door and immediately be in it all: cafés, restaurants, bars, galleries, shops, Los Muertos Beach, the pier, and some of the city’s most recognizable streets.

It is social, colorful, busy and highly walkable. It's also very LGBTQ+ friendly.

For many people, that is exactly the appeal.

You can live here without depending on a car, meet friends for dinner on foot, walk to the beach, and be surrounded by activity almost every day.

But the same things that make the Romantic Zone exciting also mean it is not for everyone. Some streets are lively late into the night, newer condo buildings can be expensive, and demand keeps both purchase prices and rents higher than in many more residential neighborhoods.

People who want walkability, nightlife, restaurants, beach access, a strong social scene, and the convenience of having almost everything close by.

WHAT TO THINK ABOUT

Noise, future construction, building quality, rental rules, parking, natural light, and whether you actually want to live in the middle of the action every day.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO LIVE HERE?

The Romantic Zone comes at a premium because you are paying for one of Puerto Vallarta’s most walkable and in-demand locations.

For a longer-term furnished rental in 2026, a practical range is roughly $1,200 to $2,500+ USD per month, with newer condos, larger units, ocean views and premium amenities often pushing higher. Current examples include long-term units around $1,200 to $1,800, while newer or more upscale condos are commonly around $2,400 and above.

Seasonal rentals are another story. High-season furnished units can climb well above normal long-term pricing, especially near Los Muertos Beach and in newer buildings with rooftop pools and other amenities.*

You can still find value in the Romantic Zone, especially in older buildings or simpler units, but if you want newer construction, amenities, views and prime walkability, expect to pay for it.
